What Kanema is

Kanema is a media player. It comes with no channels, films or subscriptions, and it doesn’t connect to any service of ours, because there isn’t one. It plays what you point it at.

What you are responsible for

The playlist or portal you enter is yours, and so is the question of whether you’re entitled to it. You must have the right to access whatever you add. Using Kanema to reach content you aren’t licensed to watch breaks these terms, and we have no way to know about it, prevent it or help with it.

We are not the provider of that content, we do not host, cache, transcode or relay it, and we have no relationship with anyone who does. Complaints about a stream belong with the service supplying it.

The licence you get

You may install and use Kanema on your own devices. Kanema is free to download from the App Store. Some features are part of Kanema Pro, which you can buy inside the app and which is described below. Anything you buy on the App Store is also covered by Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions.

No warranty

Apart from your rights under consumer law, described under Kanema Pro below, Kanema is provided as it is, with no service behind it. We don’t promise it will work with any particular provider, that a stream will play, that it will be free of faults, or that it will keep being published.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. Beyond that, to the extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of Kanema. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Kanema Pro and subscriptions

What Pro is

Kanema Pro unlocks more of the app: the full guide range, sync across your devices, pause and rewind on live TV, multi-view, reminders, more than one playlist, and a few more. Pro features carry a small lock and the word Pro until you have it. The free version has no adverts and no watermarks, and it stays free.

Pro is features in the player and nothing else. It includes no channels, films, playlists or subscription to any TV service. You still need your own.

Plans and prices

  • Monthly: £1.99 a month.
  • Yearly: £14.99 a year, starting with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
  • Lifetime: £39.99, paid once.

Those are the UK prices, VAT included. Outside the UK the App Store shows the price in your own currency, with your local taxes, and it may not be an exact conversion. The price on the App Store when you confirm is the price you pay. Apple takes the payment from your Apple Account when you confirm.

The free trial

The yearly plan starts with 7 days free for new subscribers. Apple decides who counts as new, and you can only have the trial once. Nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends it becomes a yearly subscription and the yearly price is charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancel in time and you pay nothing.

Renewal

Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the same price until you cancel. To stop the next renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges for the renewal in the 24 hours before the period ends.

Cancelling

Subscriptions are cancelled through Apple. You can do it:

  • on iPhone, iPad or Apple Vision Pro, in Kanema under Settings › Kanema Pro › Manage Subscription, or in the Settings app under your name, then Subscriptions;
  • on a Mac, in Kanema under Settings › Kanema Pro › Manage Subscription, which opens the App Store’s subscriptions page;
  • on Apple TV, in the Settings app under Users and Accounts.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. Pro stays unlocked until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.

When Pro ends, its features lock again, but nothing you made is deleted. Extra playlists stay where they are, locked, and sync pauses until Pro comes back.

Lifetime

Lifetime is one payment and never renews. It keeps Pro unlocked for as long as Kanema is offered and the App Store supports the purchase. Buying Lifetime doesn’t cancel a subscription you already have: cancel that yourself, as above, or Apple will keep renewing it.

Price changes

If we change a price, Apple tells existing subscribers first, and you keep the price you pay now unless you agree to the new one. A new price applies to new purchases.

Refunds and your right to cancel

Apple took the payment, so refunds go through Apple, not us. We never see your payment and have no way to give money back ourselves. Ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If you’re in the UK or the EU, Apple’s terms give you 14 days from your receipt to cancel a purchase without giving a reason, and you use the same page to do it. Apple handles that right and its terms say how it applies.

Your rights under consumer law

Pro is digital content you pay for. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 it has to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it isn’t, you’re entitled to a repair or a replacement, and if that can’t be done, to some or all of your money back. Write to legal@kanema.app, or ask Apple. Nothing in these terms takes those rights away.

Family Sharing

Pro works with Family Sharing, for all three plans. If you share purchases with your family, the other members of your Family Sharing group get Pro under their own Apple Accounts. They lose it if you stop sharing, if they leave the group, or if the subscription ends.

Your other devices

One purchase covers Kanema on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, on any device signed in to the same Apple Account. Pro normally turns up on its own. If it doesn’t, use Restore Purchases, in Settings › Kanema Pro or on the Kanema Pro screen.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

Contact

Kanema is made and sold by Patrick Sibale, an independent developer in the United Kingdom.
