An IPTV player for iPhone and iPad

Kanema plays the IPTV subscription you already pay for on iPhone and iPad: live channels with a full TV guide and catch-up, and your provider’s films and series if you sign in with Xtream Codes.

Coming soon to the App Store

Multi-view on an iPad held sideways, beside the sidebar: four channels playing at once, two by two, Aurora Cinema showing Tears of Steel, Northlight showing Sintel, Meridian Action showing Hero and Harbour Films showing Sprite Fright, with a white ring round the first, whose sound is on.

Demo playlist: the films are Blender open movies (credits) and the channels are made up. Kanema comes with nothing to watch.

Live TV in your pocket

Kanema keeps up to an hour of the channel you’re watching, so you can pause and rewind live TV. Multi-view plays two or four channels side by side, with the sound from whichever you choose.

Keep watching in picture in picture while you do something else, or send what’s playing to an Apple TV, an AirPlay television or a Chromecast.

Discover

Discover sits at the top of Library on iPhone, and in the sidebar on iPad. It shows film and series genres as tiles, each with posters from it and how many titles it holds, next to what your provider added lately and what rates best.

Actors are there too: the ones who appear most, every actor from A to Z, and a page for each with everything they’re in. Tap a name in a title’s cast to get there. This needs a provider that lists the cast, and films join in once you’ve opened their page.

Discover on iPhone: film genres as tiles of whole posters, Recently added with 11 titles, Animation with 5 and Science fiction with 1, then the series genres Animation and Comedy, and Actors below.Library on iPhone: Discover at the top, then a switch between Films and Series, Continue watching with Tears of Steel, Wing It! and Coffee Run, and the film categories below.

Starting soon

Starting soon, in Live TV, lists what begins in the next hour on your favourite channels, soonest first. Tap the bell beside a programme to be reminded when it starts.

Starting soon on iPhone: programmes beginning in the next hour on favourite channels, soonest first, such as Elephants Dream on Aurora Cinema in 22 minutes, each with a bell to set a reminder.

Reminders

Set a reminder from the guide and choose how early it goes off, from 1 to 30 minutes before. Tapping it puts the channel on.

Once the programme is less than six hours away, it counts down on the Lock Screen, and in the Dynamic Island on iPhone, with a Watch button.

A Kanema countdown on the Lock Screen: Starting soon, Tears of Steel on Aurora Cinema at 04:00, 16 minutes 54 seconds to go, with a Watch button.

Your Home, your way

Choose which rows Home shows and drag them into the order you want; your other devices get the same Home through iCloud.

Choose what Kanema opens on, too: Home, Live TV, the TV guide, Films or Series, a category or a channel you pick, the page you were last on, or the film, episode or channel you were watching. Each device keeps its own choice, so the television can open on Live TV while your iPhone opens on Home. On every device but Apple TV, anything that starts playing can start muted.

Home and opening settings on iPhone: Open on Home, and Home’s rows Continue watching, On now, Films and Series, each with a switch and a handle to drag it.

A queue for film night

Add films to the queue from their pages, put them in order, and press Play. As each one ends, the next is offered with a ten-second countdown, the way the next episode of a series is.

The queue on iPhone: Play the queue, then Coffee Run and Tears of Steel lined up to play one after another.

Favourites in groups

Put favourite channels under tags of your own, such as Football, News or Kids, and pick one from the row at the top of Favourites to see only those. A channel can be under more than one, and your tags reach your other devices through iCloud.

Favourites on iPhone with a row of tags across the top: All, Films and Weekend, and Aurora Cinema listed under All.

Catch-up and your own server

Watch programmes that have already been shown, on any channel your provider records. Add your own Plex, Jellyfin or Emby server alongside your playlists and play its films and series straight from it; Plex signs in with a code, so your Plex password never reaches Kanema.

Catch-up on iPhone: the Aurora Cinema channel’s programmes from this morning, newest first, each with a still from it, its start time, its length and a line about it.Adding a media server on iPhone: Plex, Jellyfin and Emby to choose from, a button to sign in with Plex, and a note that Kanema signs in through plex.tv, so your Plex password never reaches it.

iPhone Duo

Closed, the folding iPhone gets the iPhone app; open, it becomes the iPad layout with the sidebar, and you stay where you were as you fold and unfold. Stand it half open while something plays and the picture keeps one half, while the other has its controls and more to watch, from More like this to your whole library.

Kanema on iPhone Duo half open and held like a book: Spring playing on the left half; on the right half, the scrubber and play controls, buttons for Films, Series, Discover and Live TV, More like this and Recently added.

Widgets, controls and Siri

Five widgets for the Home Screen: a TV guide of the channels you choose, your channels with what’s on now, Continue watching, your favourite categories, and Coming up, which counts down to your reminders. Some come in Lock Screen sizes too.

Control Centre gets buttons for Continue watching, the TV guide and a channel you pick, and they work on the Lock Screen and the Action button as well. Ask Siri to play a channel by name or carry on with what you were watching. Kanema needs iOS 26.1 or iPadOS 26.1.

The TV guide widget: Aurora Cinema, Northlight and Meridian Action, each with the programme on now, its times and a bar showing how far in it is, and what comes next.

It doesn’t come with channels

Kanema plays the playlist you add from your own provider, and nothing else. Only add services you’re entitled to use.
