Open-source licences

Kanema is built on work other people gave away. This is what it uses and under what terms.

Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro

  • VLCKit, MobileVLCKit and TVVLCKit. GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1 or later, VideoLAN and the VLC authors. This is what decodes almost everything a portal serves, and Kanema would play very little without it. It is used unmodified, as a dynamically linked framework. The full licence text ships with the app, and the sources are at code.videolan.org/videolan/VLCKit. Write to privacy@kanema.app for a copy of the exact sources any released build was linked against, and for the object files needed to relink it against a modified VLCKit.
  • Archivo, for the wordmark only. SIL Open Font License 1.1, The Archivo Project Authors.
  • Playlist mascots, from the IP-as-Logo collection at ipaslogo.com, free for commercial use; the generator behind them is MIT-licensed.

This website

  • Archivo and Instrument Sans. SIL Open Font License 1.1. Both are served from this domain rather than from Google, so that visiting this page contacts nobody else.

The films in the pictures

The pictures of the apps on this site show a demonstration playlist. Its films and series are Blender open movies, made by the Blender Foundation and released under Creative Commons Attribution licences. Their posters and backdrops in the apps are frames from the films, cropped and resized. The channels, their logos and their schedules are made up. Kanema is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Blender Foundation.
