An IPTV player for Mac

Kanema is a Mac app in its own right, rather than the iPad app in a window. It plays your own IPTV subscription from an M3U link or an Xtream Codes login.

Coming soon to the App Store

Kanema on a MacBook Air: the sidebar with Home, Favourites, Live, On demand and Yours, Continue watching with three films and a series, and what’s on now on six channels.

Demo playlist: the films are Blender open movies (credits) and the channels are made up. Kanema comes with nothing to watch.

Made for the Mac

Search channels, films and series from one box, keep every list in the sidebar, and use keyboard shortcuts for the common actions. Picture in picture opens in a window of its own.

Searching on a MacBook Air: co typed in the box at the top finds the Comet Comedy channel and the film Coffee Run, with the sidebar of lists down the left.

Pause and rewind

While you watch, Kanema keeps up to two hours of the channel, so you can pause and go back.

Your own Plex, Jellyfin or Emby

Add a media server from File › Add Playlist and Kanema plays its films and series beside your channels. Plex signs in with a code typed at plex.tv/link, so your Plex password never reaches Kanema; Jellyfin and Emby take the server’s address and your login there.

Adding a server on a MacBook Air: Plex, Jellyfin and Emby to choose from, a Sign in with Plex button, and a note that Kanema signs in through plex.tv, so your Plex password never reaches it.

Everything else

A full TV guide, catch-up, multi-view of two or four channels, films and series that pick up where you stopped, subtitles from OpenSubtitles, and AirPlay and Chromecast. Your playlists, favourites and progress sync through iCloud with your other Apple devices. Kanema needs macOS 26.1 or later.

It doesn’t come with channels

Kanema plays the playlist you add from your own provider, and nothing else. Only add services you’re entitled to use.
