What Kanema does
Kanema is built for each Apple screen it runs on.
- A Mac app of its own, not the iPad app in a window, with keyboard shortcuts, a menu bar icon, a Dock menu and desktop widgets. More about the Mac.
- A window on Apple Vision Pro that you can put anywhere in the room and resize.
- An iPhone Duo layout. Closed, it’s the iPhone app. Open, it becomes the iPad layout with a sidebar, and you stay where you were as you fold and unfold.
- Pause and rewind live TV. Kanema keeps the channel you’re watching on your device: up to an hour on iPhone and iPad, two hours on a Mac and half an hour on Apple TV. How it works.
- Multi-view plays two or four live channels side by side on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Mac, with the sound from whichever one you choose. More about Multi-view.
- Set up Apple TV from your phone. When you add a playlist on the TV, scan the QR code with any phone and type the details there. They go to the TV over your Wi-Fi. Apple TV setup.
- Widgets, Control Centre and Siri. Home Screen widgets for the guide, your channels and Continue watching; Control Centre buttons; reminders that count down on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; and Siri to play a channel by name. On Apple TV, your channels sit in the Top Shelf. Siri, the Top Shelf and widgets.
- Sync through your own iCloud. Playlists, favourites, Watch later and where you got to follow you between devices. There is no Kanema account and no Kanema server. What syncs.
- No adverts.

What both apps list
Kanema has each of these in the app. UHF lists each one in its description on the UK App Store or on its website, getuhf.com, checked on 17 October 2026.
- M3U playlists and Xtream Codes logins. UHF’s App Store page lists M3U8 and Xtream.
- Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers alongside your playlists.
- A TV guide (EPG) and catch-up.
- Picture in picture. In Kanema it’s on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
- AirPlay and Chromecast. In Kanema, sending to another screen works from iPhone, iPad and Mac.
- Subtitles from OpenSubtitles.
- Trakt, to keep track of what you watch.
- Locking categories behind a PIN code. UHF’s page says folders; Kanema calls it the parental lock.
Which versions each needs
Kanema needs iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, macOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1 or visionOS 26.1, or later.
UHF’s UK App Store page lists iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision and Apple TV under Compatibility. It asks for iOS 16.0, iPadOS 16.0, macOS 13.0 on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later, visionOS 1.0 and tvOS 17.0, or later. If your devices run something older than 26.1, Kanema won’t install on them.

Where the UHF facts come from
Everything this page says about UHF comes from two places, both read on 17 October 2026:
- UHF’s listing on the UK App Store, “UHF - Love your IPTV” by Short Wavelength Applications SL, version 2.1.0: its description and its Compatibility section.
- UHF’s own website, getuhf.com.
Apps change. If something here no longer matches UHF’s own pages, theirs is the one to go by. Everything about Kanema comes from the app itself.
Questions
Is Kanema made by the people who make UHF?
No. Kanema is a separate app from a different developer, and it isn’t connected to UHF or to Short Wavelength Applications SL.
Does Kanema come with channels?
No. Kanema plays the playlist you add from your own provider, and nothing else. Only add services you’re entitled to use.
Can I use the playlist I already have?
